We do some of it naturally, but some of it are skills that we can instinctively boost to get better at defending ourselves when we have to, more effectively, especially as women, females and the fairer (often the weaker) sex/gender (these days more and more we are challenging this misconception!).

If you figure that someone is out to get or hurt you in any way, that is but the first step. To know and recognize a threat is only a preparatory impulse. Now you get to decide what to do, your options and eventually actions. DOING SOMETHING is next. However, very few get past the fear that they feel when under threat of attack. Very few can think straight, let alone execute what they know might save their lives. When the perceived threat or hostile environment, individual(s) are there, you rarely KNOW what to do, let alone are ABLE TO DO SO! To escape, get away, deter them from their intent etc.

Suddenly turn away or around and look straight at the person. It is unnerving, unexpected and might just avert a dangerous situation. It could however also not be advisable in all cases or situations! In some cases it would be better to just get away, get to safety, or where other people are, less vulnerable, alone and exposed. Get away from danger is the advice most given to women.
